Accusations have surfaced against actor and comedian Russell Brand, claiming that he exposed himself to a woman and later made light of the incident during his BBC Radio 2 show.
The recent claims against Brand, known for his controversial past, add to a list of allegations including rape, s–ual assault, and emotional abuse during the peak of his career.
The accusations were brought to light by Channel 4's Dispatches, The Times, and The Sunday Times over the weekend, with four women stepping forward to share their experiences spanning from 2006 to 2013.
One additional woman recounts an incident where Brand allegedly kissed her against her will despite her objections.
Brand vehemently denies these claims, asserting that all his intimate relationships were consensual.
An anonymous woman has recently disclosed a fresh allegation dating back to 2008, shedding light on an encounter at a Los Angeles-based organization situated in the same building as the BBC.
Although she did not file a formal complaint, the woman revealed to BBC News that Brand and his team visited to record an episode of The Russell Brand Show on June 16.
During the incident, the woman was taken aback when she encountered Brand behind her while she was searching through a medicine cabinet.
Brand made inappropriate remarks and exposed himself, causing her distress.
Despite her refusal, Brand persisted, displaying his private parts and leaving her feeling trapped.
The woman discreetly reported the incident to a BBC colleague, who confirmed that Brand had been discussing the event.
Following recent revelations about Brand's behavior, the woman revisited the recorded show from that day, which aired on June 21, 2008.
The broadcast captured a conversation between Brand and Matt Morgan, where Brand was heard joking about the incident of indecent exposure.
Feeling regretful about the impact of the show, Matt Morgan expressed his dismay upon learning the nature of the encounter and condemned any mistreatment of women.
The BBC has acknowledged the seriousness of the allegations and pledged to investigate further, inviting the woman who came forward to share her story along with any other pertinent information.
In response to the allegations, Brand released a statement refuting the claims as “criminal” and emphasizing the consensual nature of his past relationships.
He expressed skepticism about the motives behind the accusations and highlighted his transparency regarding his promiscuity during his earlier years in the limelight.
