Prince Harry has dropped a significant hint suggesting a possible permanent return to the UK alongside Meghan Markle.
The Duke and Duchess of Sussex have been residing in the United States since 2020, where they even welcomed their second child.
During a three-day court battle with the Home Office this week, Prince Harry's statement hinted at a potential move back to the UK.
The statement, released recently, indicated Harry's contemplation of leaving California, referring to the US as his current residence.
This development unfolded during Harry's legal proceedings against the Home Office, which he did not personally attend, aiming to challenge a decision made by the Executive Committee for the Protection of Royalty and Public Figures in 2020.
The committee's ruling stated that Harry would no longer receive personal police protection in the UK after stepping down from his royal duties and relocating to the US.
Through his attorney, Harry expressed, “The UK is my home.
The UK is central to the heritage of my children, and a place where I want them to feel as much at home as they do in the US.”
Emphasizing his desire for his children, Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet, to feel connected to the UK, Harry's statement reflected concerns about ensuring their safety while on British soil.
He also voiced apprehensions for his wife, Meghan, and himself, stating, “I cannot put my wife in danger like that, and given my life experiences, I am reluctant to expose myself to unnecessary risks.”
Regarding their decision to step back from senior royal duties in 2020, Harry expressed profound sadness for both himself and Meghan.
Moreover, it was disclosed recently that Harry's libel case against the Mail on Sunday concerning an article on his security arrangements will proceed to trial, following a ruling by a High Court judge today.
This update forms part of the ongoing legal actions initiated by the Duke of Sussex against Associated Newspapers Ltd.
In his statement, Prince Harry conveyed his deep-rooted connection to the UK and the importance of ensuring his family's safety and well-being, particularly highlighting his children's ties to their British heritage.
The prospect of a potential permanent return to the UK signifies a significant shift for the Duke and Duchess of Sussex, marking a potential change in their living arrangements and future plans.
