The Duchess of Cambridge recently engaged in heartfelt conversations with finalists of her Hold Still Community photography project, paving the way for the upcoming book release scheduled for Friday.
Through touching clips posted on Prince William and Kate's fresh YouTube channel, the Duchess participated in a poignant phone call with Linda Sneddon and her four-year-old daughter, Mila, whose photograph was featured in the initiative.
In an emotional call that was recorded during autumn 2020, Kate made a heartwarming promise to the young girl that she would don a pink dress when they finally had the opportunity to meet.
The family faced a challenging decision to distance themselves from Mila's father, Scott, and older sister, Jodie, in order to safeguard Mila, who was undergoing chemotherapy for acute lymphoblastic leukemia.
The poignant image submitted by Linda depicted Mila kissing the window while her father, Scott, stood outside.
During their telephone exchange, Mila curiously inquired of the Duchess, “Do you have a costume?”
To which Kate tenderly responded, “I'm not currently wearing a princess costume, I'm afraid, Mila.
Do you have many dressing up outfits yourself?”
Mila joyfully affirmed, “Yeah,” and disclosed to the Duchess that her preferred color was pink.
The Duchess warmly expressed, “Alright, well, I must ensure I go and search for a pink dress so that hopefully, when the day arrives for Mila to meet me, I will remember to wear my pink dress for you.
Wouldn't that be lovely?”
The Hold Still project was introduced in May 2020, when Kate extended an invitation to individuals of all age groups across the UK to submit a photograph captured during the lockdown period.
