Russell Crowe, known for his iconic role as the buff fighter in the film Gladiator, looked almost unrecognizable on the set of his new movie, Unhinged.

The 55-year-old actor was spotted during a break from filming, dressed in character wearing a fat-suit and a stained shirt.

Gone were the days of his Gladiator physique as Russell puffed on a cigarette, showcasing his transformation for the role.

Sporting a pale blue shirt splattered with fake blood, beige trousers, a beige belt, and brown shoes, Russell fully embraced his character.

In Unhinged, Russell plays a man who terrorizes a woman's life after a road rage incident.

His character goes after her and everyone she knows, creating a suspenseful thriller.

On set, Russell appeared relaxed between takes, accompanied by a female staffer.

This is not the first time Russell has undergone a physical transformation for a role.

He recently portrayed the late Roger Ailes, former chairman and CEO of Fox News, in the Showtime series, The Loudest Voice.

Interestingly, Russell revealed in a recent interview with Howard Stern that he turned down a role in the first Lord of the Rings movie, which could have earned him a staggering $100 million.

He was offered a percentage of the film's profits instead of an upfront fee but declined the opportunity.
