The highly-anticipated trailer for an upcoming Netflix documentary series featuring Meghan Markle and Prince Harry was unveiled today.
In a striking finale to the trailer, the Duchess of Sussex, 41, adorned herself with a very special piece of jewelry – the £17,800 gold Cartier Tank watch that once belonged to her late mother-in-law, Princess Diana.
Alongside this exquisite timepiece, Meghan also showcased her £5,000 Cartier Love Bracelet, a cherished possession dating back to at least 2017.
Complementing her ensemble was a Jennifer Meyer-designed mini gold tennis bracelet valued at $3,000, approximately £2,456 in British currency.
Looking resplendent in a lilac long-sleeved sweater, Meghan exuded elegance as she sported the iconic Cartier Tank watch in the Netflix trailer.
This historic timepiece, previously worn by Princess Diana and rumored to have been gifted to Meghan by Harry, was originally priced at £17,800 but is now considered a priceless heirloom due to its rich heritage.
Diana had been spotted wearing the Tank watch on various occasions, including visits to the Sri Swaminaray Mandir Hindi Temple in London and the British Lung Foundation in 1997.
Meghan's fondness for the Cartier Tank watch dates back to her time on the television show “Suits,” which was renewed for a third season in 2015.
Expressing her admiration for the timepiece, Meghan shared with Hello!
Magazine, “I've always coveted the Cartier French Tank watch.”
She further revealed her emotional attachment to the watch, stating, “When I learned that Suits had been renewed for a third season, which at the time felt like such a significant milestone, I had it engraved on the back to MM from MM and I planned to give it to my daughter one day.
That's what makes pieces special, the connection you have to them.”
In addition to the Cartier watch, Meghan has been adorned with several other items from Princess Diana's collection, including her butterfly earrings and gold bracelet.
Among these treasures, the Cartier Love Bracelet stands out as a favorite, believed to have been a gift from Prince Harry during the early stages of their relationship.
The unique design of the oval Cartier band, consisting of two C-shaped halves secured with a screw mechanism, is said to be inspired by medieval chastity belts, a feature also seen in earlier versions owned by King Edward VIII and Wallace Simpson.
Meghan's accessories in the Netflix trailer also included her stunning £271,000 engagement ring, a symbol of love and commitment from Prince Harry.
Originally designed with a solid yellow gold band, the ring underwent a redesign in 2019, featuring a thinner band embellished with paved diamonds all around.
To complete her ensemble, Meghan added a delicate $3,000 mini gold tennis bracelet crafted by Jennifer Meyer, described by the designer as a chic complement to everyday style and a true staple.
Known for her preference for bold jewelry stacks, Meghan's style diverges from the royal family's traditional minimalistic approach to accessories.
Her choice to pair the Cartier watch with the Love Bracelet reflects her distinctive fashion sense and personal connection to the pieces she wears.
As Meghan continues to honor Princess Diana's legacy through her choice of jewelry, each piece serves as a poignant reminder of the enduring bond between the two remarkable women.
