Charlie Sheen, the 56-year-old actor, has reached a settlement in a 2017 legal dispute with his former girlfriend who accused him of exposing her to HIV.
As per the agreement filed in LA County Superior Court, Sheen will pay the unnamed woman $120,000 in monthly increments over the span of a year.
Having publicly disclosed his HIV-positive status in November 2015, Sheen faced allegations from the anonymous woman, also known as Jane Doe, who revealed she signed a non-disclosure agreement out of apprehension upon meeting him.
The lawsuit, initiated five years ago, detailed the woman's claim that Sheen engaged in unprotected s–ual relations with her before disclosing his HIV status.
The prolonged legal battle involving Sheen, known for his role in Two and A Half Men, has finally been resolved, according to documents obtained by TMZ.
Authorities pondered investigating Sheen in 2016 following claims that he had exposed multiple women to the virus without prior notice.
In an interview on the Today show, Sheen admitted concealing his diagnosis from two s–ual partners but asserted the use of protection during those encounters.
California law prohibits individuals with communicable diseases from knowingly endangering others.
While Sheen was diagnosed as HIV positive around 2011, the information was not made public until November 2015.
Subsequently, his ex-fiancee Brett Rossi sued him in 2015, alleging unawareness of his HIV status during their intimate relationship that involved abuse, both physical and emotional.
Rossi's lawsuit, filed in December 2015, was later directed to arbitration.
Another former partner of Sheen, Bree Olson, claimed in the same year that Sheen had never disclosed his HIV status to her.
Recently, Sheen was sighted in Los Angeles promoting his upcoming TV series, Ramble On, announced earlier this year.
In a podcast interview, Denise Richards, Sheen's ex-wife, shared insights on their troubled marriage, emphasizing her decision to leave due to concerns about their daughters' well-being amidst alleged threats and inappropriate behavior.
Richards, who divorced Sheen in 2005, maintains that despite the challenges, their union was instrumental in bringing their two daughters into the world.
Reflecting on the tumultuous relationship, she acknowledged the undisclosed struggles and affirmed her belief in the purpose behind their connection.
