Natalie Wood’s Yacht Captain Reveals Allegations Against Robert Wagner

In an interview on Megyn Kelly Today, Davern reiterated his belief that Wood's ex-husband, Robert Wagner, played a role in her death by allegedly pushing her off the boat.

Having provided detailed information to the Los Angeles Sheriff's Department during a recent interview, Davern stood firm on his claim implicating Wagner.

Initially, he did not name Wagner as a potential suspect.

Following his extensive conversation with authorities, Davern was asked to undergo a polygraph test, which he willingly agreed to and reportedly passed successfully.

In their book, “Goodbye Natalie, Goodbye Splendour,” co-authored by Marti Rulli, Davern and Rulli assert that Wagner was responsible for Wood's tragic fall from the yacht.

Rulli defended Davern's delayed disclosure, citing the challenges he faced in confronting the truth due to his close association with Wagner in the aftermath of Wood's death.

Davern's involvement with Wagner continued for a year post-Wood's passing, a period during which he felt constrained by Wagner's influence, as claimed by Rulli during the show.

Efforts to speak out were impeded until Davern eventually decided to move away from Los Angeles, setting the stage for the disclosure after years of internal struggle.

Davern, who now co-hosts a podcast with Rulli titled “Fatal Voyage: The Mysterious Death of Natalie Wood,” alleged that Wagner restricted his movements, effectively holding him captive to prevent him from revealing what he knew about the incident involving Wood.

Recounting his time at Wagner's residence, Davern described feeling confined and monitored, suggesting that his room was equipped with a security mechanism that prevented him from freely exiting.

Despite uncertainties regarding the extent of the security measures, Davern recounted experiencing a sense of confinement and restriction during his stay at Wagner's house.

Robert Wagner, currently 88, declined to comment when reached out to by Megyn Kelly Today regarding the recent allegations made by Davern.

The tragic event unfolded in November 1981 when Wood drowned near Catalina Island after vanishing from the family's yacht, Splendour.

The night before her body was discovered in the water, Wood had been aboard the yacht with Wagner, Christopher Walken, and Davern.

She was found wearing a distinctive red jacket and nightgown, at the age of 43.

Months after the authorities named Wagner a person of interest in February, Davern and Rulli's revelations have reignited interest in the case.

Originally deemed an accident, the circumstances surrounding Wood's death were subject to renewed scrutiny in 2011, leading to amendments in the official cause of death from accidental drowning to “drowning and other undetermined factors.”
