Jerry Seinfeld and Hugh Grant’s Rollercoaster Ride on the Set of ‘Unfrosted’

Jerry Seinfeld had a rather interesting experience working with Hugh Grant in their upcoming film, “Unfrosted: The Pop-Tart Story.”

Seinfeld, who not only starred in the movie but also contributed as a writer and director, shared on a recent episode of The Tonight Show that Grant, portraying Thurl Ravenscroft, the voice behind Kellogg's Tony the Tiger, proved to be quite a challenging co-star.

According to Seinfeld, tensions ran high during filming as he described Grant as being difficult to collaborate with, even labeling him as “horrible” and a “pain in the ass.”

Grant apparently forewarned Seinfeld about his challenging nature, a statement that Seinfeld acknowledged as true.

Despite the initial friction between them on set, any animosity quickly dissipated when the two went out for dinner one evening.

After spending time together outside of work, Seinfeld's perception of Grant shifted positively.

He commended Grant's charisma, describing him as effortlessly cool with a sharp wit, making him quite appreciable in Seinfeld's eyes.

During his chat with host Jimmy Fallon, Seinfeld admitted that Grant wasn't his first choice for the role of Ravenscroft.

Seinfeld had envisioned the character as a frustrated Shakespearean actor compelled to embody an embarrassing persona to meet financial obligations.

Unexpectedly, Grant expressed interest in the project by reaching out to Seinfeld personally.

Seinfeld humorously recalled how Grant auditioned for the role via phone, holding a glass of wine in his other hand during the process.

Seinfeld's decision to cast Grant was made even before the audition, showcasing his confidence in Grant's abilities.

He playfully brushed off the significance of the audition, emphasizing Grant's suitability for the role without second thoughts.

Following the completion of filming, Grant conveyed his unexpected enjoyment of the movie to Seinfeld in a heartfelt text message.

In the message, Grant expressed his pleasant surprise at finding the film delightful and engaging, even praising Seinfeld's performance along with the rest of the cast.
