Katherine Heigl: From Hollywood Stardom to Downfall

Before gracing our screens as “Izzie,” Heigl had appeared in various films and TV shows since her debut in 1992 with “That Night.”

Notably, she gained attention for her role in the '90s teen favorite, Roswell.

Transitioning from smaller roles, Heigl secured significant parts in projects like the TV series Wuthering Heights, the sports comedy film The Ringer, and the 2005 television film Romy and Michele: In the Beginning.

However, it was her breakthrough on Grey's Anatomy that truly elevated her status in Hollywood.

The popular show, starring Patrick Dempsey alongside Heigl, became a massive success, garnering high ratings and launching its cast members to stardom.

Following her stint on Grey's Anatomy, Heigl landed a leading role in the successful movie Knocked Up in 2007, where she starred opposite and earned $300,000.

Her performance on the show also earned her an Emmy Award for Best Supporting Actress — Drama that year.

Riding on this success, Heigl's star continued to rise, leading her to command hefty paychecks, including a remarkable $6 million for her role in the romantic comedy 27 Dresses.

As her fame and fortune soared, Heigl became a prominent figure in Hollywood, gracing magazine covers and being named the Most Desirable Woman by AskMen.com in 2008.

However, a controversial decision would mark the beginning of her downfall.

Heigl stunned fans and colleagues when she withdrew from Emmy contention in 2008, citing dissatisfaction with the material provided for her character on Grey's Anatomy that season.

This move caused a stir within the industry, with many viewing it as disrespectful towards the show's creator, Shonda Rhimes.

Reports of tension on set and rumors of Heigl's diva behavior further tarnished her reputation.

Despite these setbacks, Heigl continued to secure roles in big-budget films like The Ugly Truth and Killers, but negative media attention regarding her conduct on set persisted.

Heigl's career took a sharp turn in 2010 when she failed to show up for work on Grey's Anatomy, leading to her contract termination by Rhimes.

Subsequent projects like New Year's Eve and One for the Money received mixed reviews and box office results, with Heigl even earning a Golden Raspberry Award nomination for Worst Actress.

Acknowledging her missteps, Heigl expressed regret for her actions and sought to make amends.

However, her struggles continued with further critically panned projects like Home Sweet Hell and State of Affairs.

In a bid to revive her career, Heigl joined the cast of Suits, following 's departure, marking a potential comeback for the actress.

Despite facing numerous challenges and setbacks, Heigl remains determined to reclaim her standing in Hollywood.

With upcoming projects like Firefly Lane, the star seems poised to make a resurgence in the industry, showcasing her resilience and commitment to her craft.
