Maisie Williams Surprised by ‘Game of Thrones’ s=x Scene

In the recent episode of “Game of Thrones,” viewers were taken aback by a particular scene, but the biggest shock was felt by Maisie Williams herself.

The actress confessed that she was under the impression that the intimate moment between her character, Arya Stark, and Gendry, portrayed by Joe Dempsie, was a practical joke.

Initially dismissing it as a prank, Williams recounted, “I was like, ‘Yo, good one.' And [the showrunners were like] ‘like, ‘No, we haven't done that this year.' Oh f–k!” in an interview with Entertainment Weekly.

Williams only became aware of the scene's reality when her co-star Sophie Turner, who plays Sansa Stark, phoned her after reading the script.

Turner directed her to skip ahead and focus on “this scene, this page.”

It wasn't until the final season table read that Williams grasped the seriousness of the steamy encounter.

She recollected, “I got to the read-through and I'm reading the scene and thought, ‘Oh, we're actually going to do this.

When do I shoot this?

I need to go to the gym.' A whole list of things.”

Ahead of filming, the 22-year-old actress shared that the show's creators gave her the liberty to choose the extent to which she wanted to reveal.

She opted to maintain her privacy as she believed full exposure wasn't necessary for Arya's character development.

Reflecting on the filming process, Williams described it as somewhat uncomfortable.

“At the start, everyone was very considerate.

No one wanted to make you feel awkward, which paradoxically made you feel more uneasy because nobody wants to see anything they shouldn't see, leading you to feel self-conscious because everyone is sort of averting their gaze,” she expressed.

“You wish people would act more naturally.”

For 31-year-old Dempsie, the scene posed a peculiar situation given his long-standing relationship with Williams.

“It's obviously slightly strange for me because I've known Maisie since she was 11, 12 years old,” he disclosed to EW.

“At the same time, I don't want to be patronizing toward Maisie.

She's a 20-year-old woman.
