Jessica Simpson has decided to speak out about her past association with former colleague Johnny Knoxville.
In her latest book, Open Book, which is currently available, Simpson discloses that she developed a deep bond with Knoxville while working together on the 2005 movie, Dukes of Hazzard.
Despite being in a marriage with Nick Lachey at the time, she confesses to engaging in what she terms as an “emotional affair” with the actor, emphasizing that their relationship never turned physical.
According to Simpson, she found solace in sharing her genuine thoughts with Knoxville, appreciating his acceptance of her intelligence and vulnerabilities.
She expresses feeling empowered by his belief in her capabilities, making her believe that she was capable of achieving anything she set her mind to.
The singer admits to being drawn towards Knoxville and questions her openness to this connection, expressing doubts about trusting her own judgment.
Simpson reveals that the only other person in her life who had elicited similar feelings was her father, Joe Simpson, highlighting that her then-husband, Nick Lachey, did not provide her with the same emotional support.
Despite their emotional closeness, Simpson clarifies that there was no physical intimacy between her and Knoxville, underlining that the emotional bond they shared felt more like a betrayal to her marriage than any physical aspect.
Reflecting on her past, Simpson acknowledges that her divorce from Lachey in 2005, after seven years together and three years of marriage, was a turning point in her life.
During a recent appearance on The Dr. Oz Show, she admitted that one thing she wishes she had handled differently was signing a prenuptial agreement with Lachey, a decision she now regrets overlooking in the past.
On the other hand, Lachey, during his appearance on the Today show, confessed that he has not read Simpson's book yet.
He expressed contentment for her present happiness and implied that there is mutual respect between them despite their separation.
Lachey emphasized that they have all moved on from their past, indicating that it was a significant chapter that they have collectively put behind them.
