Princess Diana’s Views on King Charles’ Reign Revealed

Princess Diana, during her lifetime, expressed doubts about ' suitability to ascend the throne as king.

Before her tragic passing in 1997, the Princess of Wales confided in Jennie Bond, a former royal correspondent for the BBC, about Charles' struggles with his role as heir apparent.

According to Bond, Diana shared her belief that Charles would never become king and that she herself would not be queen.

She relied on signs, omens, and dreams, all indicating that , rather than Charles, would succeed .

Diana's predictions, however, did not come to fruition, leading to her erroneous assessments.

Diana, as revealed by an insider, would have been dismayed by the prospect of Parker Bowles, her former husband's mistress, assuming the title of queen alongside Charles.

Referring to as “The Rotweiller,” Diana would have found such a scenario inconceivable, echoing the sentiments of many at that time.

Expressing her concerns from her residence at Kensington Palace, Diana voiced her opinion that Charles was ill-suited for kingship and already faced multiple challenges as the heir to the throne.

She believed that Charles would find more contentment engaging in activities such as painting landscapes or studying architecture, rather than carrying out royal duties.

Bond also mentioned Diana's criticism of Charles' stagnant patronages, highlighting the need for him to revamp his commitments.

Despite Charles' long-standing involvement with environmental causes, Diana felt he was stuck in a rut, repeating familiar pursuits without significant growth or change.

Diana pondered how Charles would manage being overshadowed by her if he struggled with it during their marriage.

Initially hopeful of a harmonious partnership as king and queen, Diana's perception of Charles shifted due to his enduring affection for Camilla, revealing a self-centered and emotionally stifled side to him.

While recognizing the depth of love between Charles and Camilla, Diana ultimately accepted their relationship and acknowledged Camilla as Charles' true love.

Towards the end of her life, Diana even developed a sense of admiration for the unbreakable bond shared by her ex-husband and Camilla.

The breakdown of Charles' marriage to Diana, marked by infidelity and public scandals, was a significant controversy in his life.

Over time, however, Diana came to terms with Charles and Camilla's relationship, acknowledging the inevitability of their union and the strength of their connection.

As Charles prepares to ascend the throne, Diana's lingering influence and legacy continue to cast a shadow over his reign.

Despite efforts to move forward with Camilla and modernize the monarchy, Charles remains haunted by Diana's powerful personality, enduring impact, and tragic narrative.

With Charles set to be crowned king alongside Camilla on May 6 at Westminster Abbey, the faces a new chapter marked by Diana's lasting imprint and the evolving dynamics within the monarchy.
