Reports from local source Cayman Marl Road detailed the events leading to Hadid’s arrest at the Owen Roberts International Airport on July 10, alongside a companion.
They were held on suspicion of bringing in ganja and related consumption paraphernalia, detected during a customs inspection of their belongings.
The quantities seized were described as modest and seemingly intended for personal use.
Following the airport incident, both individuals were transported to the Prisoner Detention Center but were subsequently released on bail pending further legal proceedings.
During a court appearance on July 12, Gigi Hadid and her friend admitted guilt to charges related to the “Importation of a Controlled Drug” and “Importation of a Drug Utensil,” as per the Cayman Islands Court’s ruling.
The subsequent penalty imposed amounted to a fine of $1,000.
