The iconic musician Jimi Hendrix faced a significant legal ordeal when he landed at Toronto’s Pearson International Airport on May 3, 1969.
Canadian customs officials discovered a small quantity of illegal substances in his luggage, leading to his immediate detainment.
Despite the troublesome situation, Hendrix managed to secure his release by posting a $10,000 bail, ensuring his performance at Maple Leaf Gardens that very evening.
Subsequently, a trial was held in December of the same year to address the charges leveled against Hendrix regarding possession of illicit narcotics.
During the proceedings, Hendrix offered his testimony asserting that he had no prior knowledge of the contraband found in his possession.
