Ana de Armas Leaves Los Angeles Due to High-Profile Romance with Ben Affleck: ‘Horrible’

Ana de Armas, the acclaimed actress known for her role in “Knives Out,” recently revealed that her highly publicized relationship with actor Ben Affleck led her to leave Los Angeles.

De Armas and Affleck dated for almost a year before their split in January 2021.

The intense media scrutiny surrounding their relationship was one of the factors that prompted de Armas to depart from the bustling city of Southern California shortly after their breakup.

Their romance blossomed while working together on the erotic thriller “Deep Water” in 2019.

However, according to the 34-year-old Cuban-born actor, the media frenzy that ensued as a result of their relationship was nothing short of “horrible.”

Interestingly, de Armas viewed the situation as a positive turning point in her life, as it became one of the driving forces behind her decision to leave Los Angeles.

Reflecting on the experience, she shared that having paparazzi constantly trailing her every move solidified her belief that the city was not where she wanted to be.

“This is not the place for me,” de Armas admitted.

“It became a little bit too much.

There's no escape.

There's no way out.”

She described Los Angeles as a city that perpetually kept her on edge, intensifying feelings of longing and dissatisfaction.

It left her with a constant sense of something missing in her life.

Presently, de Armas resides in New York alongside her boyfriend, Paul Boukadakis, who serves as the vice president of special initiatives at Tinder.

The couple has been romantically linked since June 2021 and were recently spotted sharing a kiss during a shopping trip in Los Angeles in December 2021.

According to Elle magazine, de Armas and Boukadakis were introduced by a mutual friend during the pandemic, and their relationship has flourished ever since.

Following her breakup with Affleck, who has since rekindled his romance with Jennifer Lopez and become engaged to her, de Armas deactivated her Twitter account.

Sources close to the actress revealed that she initiated the split with Affleck due to the complications surrounding their relationship.

It appears that de Armas's reluctance to be based in Los Angeles clashed with Affleck's obligations as his children live in the city.

In addition to discussing her personal life, de Armas opened up about feeling like an outsider both in the United States and Spain, where she resided for eight years starting at the age of 18.

She expressed, “I feel sometimes that I'm not part of the Cuban artist community, and then I was in Spain and I feel like I'm not part of the community there… And then I'm here, and I feel like I'm not there yet either.
