Joe Pesci and Ray Romano, well-known actors, demonstrated their commitment to their roles in the upcoming Martin Scorsese mob drama, “The Irishman.”
The crime drama is set in the 1970s mafia era.
On Thursday, the actors were seen in New York City, fully immersed in their characters as they transformed into gangsters.
Joe Pesci, a legendary actor who won an Academy Award for his role as Tommy DeVito in “Goodfellas,” looked every bit the crime boss as he was led away in handcuffs by two individuals who appeared to be special agents.
Pesci, 74, plays the character Russell Bufalino, a Sicilian-born mafioso, in the Netflix drama.
He sported a steely stare, slicked back hair, and dark shades, along with a vintage check suit jacket, red tie, and high-waisted trousers.
In one scene, he was shoved into a waiting police car, portraying a defeated expression.
Ray Romano, known for his role in “Everybody Loves Raymond,” also underwent a drastic transformation for the film.
He played the role of mob lawyer Bill Bufalino, the on-screen brother of Joe Pesci's character.
Romano, 59, donned a heavy side-parting, spectacles, and braces, along with a series of animated expressions.
Both actors appeared fully committed to their roles, gesturing and folding their arms menacingly while clad in their respective costumes.
They were captured on set, showcasing the intensity and dedication required for their characters.
The film, “The Irishman,” is based on the book “I Heard You Paint Houses” by Charles Brandt.
It revolves around the real-life hitman Frank ‘The Irishman' Sheeran and the mysterious disappearance of mob boss Jimmy Hoffa.
Sheeran, a Mafia killer, revealed to Brandt in the book that he fired two shots into Hoffa's head.
The film also stars Robert De Niro and Al Pacino, both of whom have collaborated with Scorsese in previous films.
Martin Scorsese, the iconic director, was seen on set chatting with Joe Pesci while wearing a baggy chocolate suit.
This marks their fourth collaboration together.
Scorsese appeared delighted to be working with his old friend again, donning a navy blue suit jacket and jeans.
He also sported a bandage on his right hand, adding a touch of mystery to his appearance.
“The Irishman” was initially scheduled to start filming in 2016 but faced delays due to budget constraints.
Netflix eventually acquired the film for $105 million and agreed to finance the $125 million budget.
The movie is set to conclude filming in December 2017.
The dedication shown by Joe Pesci and Ray Romano in their roles as gangsters in “The Irishman” is evident.
Their commitment to transforming into their characters is sure to captivate audiences when the film is released.
