Actress Katharine Ross has taken legal action against her daughter, Cleo Rose Elliott, after an alleged incident where Cleo stabbed her mother with scissors.
Court documents reveal that Ross, known for her roles in films like “The Graduate” and “Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid,” has obtained a restraining order against her 26-year-old daughter.
According to Ross, Cleo had been verbally and emotionally abusive since childhood, with the violence escalating when she reached the age of 12 or 13.
The situation reached a breaking point earlier this year, as detailed in the restraining order.
On March 2, Cleo reportedly became enraged, threatening her mother by saying, “I want to kill you.”
She proceeded to kick in a cupboard door in the kitchen and then followed Ross around the house.
In an attempt to seek help, Ross picked up the phone to call the police.
However, Cleo cut the phone line with scissors and proceeded to threaten her mother by aiming the scissors at her eye.
Cleo then allegedly stabbed Ross six times in her right arm, causing visible marks that remain to this day.
The motive behind the incident remains unknown.
Ross filed the protective order on March 8 without legal representation.
Her spokesperson has stated that they are unaware of the details mentioned in the documents and that Ross will not be providing any comments at this time.
As the legal proceedings unfold, Cleo has been ordered to maintain a distance of at least 100 yards from her mother’s home, car, and workplace until a hearing scheduled for March 30 in Santa Monica.
Additionally, the court documents stipulate that if Cleo needs to retrieve any belongings from their Pacific Coast Highway residence, police officers must be present.
