In a recent interview with The Sunday Times, Rebel Wilson bared her soul about what she considers the toughest moment in her career, as she gears up for the release of her upcoming memoir.
The “Pitch Perfect” actress disclosed that working on the 2016 film “The Brothers Grimsby” alongside Sacha Baron Cohen, who not only starred in the movie but also served as one of its producers and writers, was labeled as “the worst professional experience” she has ever encountered.
Feeling undermined during the filming due to how her character was portrayed and written, Wilson expressed her discontent regarding the treatment she received on set.
She voiced her dissatisfaction, stating, “It’s one thing for someone who is fat to exploit their size for comedy, but it’s another for somebody else to humiliate you.”
Wilson further revealed that the outfits she was given seemed tailored to emphasize her flaws, remarking that they accentuated “all the cellulite on my thighs and a top to show the fattest part of my arm,” turning her into a subject of mockery and ridicule solely based on her physical appearance.
Despite feeling disrespected, Wilson chose to remain silent at the time to avoid being labeled as a troublemaker, and even agreed to participate in additional shoots for the film later on.
Recalling the distressing episode, the actor disclosed that it took her months to recuperate from the ordeal, and to this day, she has neither endorsed nor watched the movie in question.
Earlier, Wilson hinted at unveiling the identity of a “massive asshole” she had previously worked with in her memoir titled “Rebel Rising.”
She later identified Baron Cohen as the individual in question and accused him of attempting to silence her prior to the book’s publication.
Within the pages of her memoir set to launch on April 2, Wilson alleges that Baron Cohen pressured her into a n^de scene in “The Brothers Grimsby” and even requested her to enact a specific intimate act, which she declined adamantly.
Responding to Wilson’s assertions, the “Borat” star addressed the claims in a statement shared with Deadline, though details of his response were not disclosed.
