Viral Video Shows Rudy Giuliani Farting During Michigan Election Hearing
A Michigan state representative has confirmed that Rudy Giuliani did, in fact, pass gas during an election hearing.
The incident was captured in a viral video that circulated on Wednesday.
During the hearing, President Donald Trump's personal attorney experienced two instances of flatulence.
Democratic State Rep. Darrin Camilleri confirmed that both farts were real and not added to the video through editing.
Camilleri took to Twitter on Friday to address his involvement in the video clip, which was featured on ABC's “Jimmy Kimmel Live” the previous night.
“In normal times, using our time and taxpayer dollars to investigate illegitimate claims of election fraud would be wasteful, but in the middle of a pandemic, it's cowardly and cruel,” Camilleri expressed to Insider.
The fart heard round the political universe from Rudy Giuliani this week was not a deep fake, according to Michigan State Representative Darrin Camilleri.
A video clip of President Donald Trump's personal attorney appearing to pass gas during an election hearing went viral overnight on Wednesday.
Another video emerged later, seemingly capturing a different fart.
Camilleri, a Democrat representing Dearborn, Michigan, who serves in the state legislature, shared his thoughts on the incident via a tweet on Friday morning.
Joking about his appearance on ABC's “Jimmy Kimmel Live” due to his questioning of Giuliani, Camilleri confirmed that the fart was indeed real.
In an email to Insider, Camilleri expressed concerns about the lack of evidence presented at the hearing, beyond the comedic relief provided by the fart incident.
“From the moment we found out that House Republicans were really going through with the blatantly partisan act of allowing Rudy Giuliani and other members of the Trump legal team to testify before an official committee of the Michigan House of Representatives, this whole thing has seemed surreal,” Camilleri stated.
He further added, “In normal times, using our time and taxpayer dollars to investigate illegitimate claims of election fraud would be wasteful, but in the middle of a pandemic, it's cowardly and cruel.”
Insider reached out to Giuliani for comment, but he did not respond.
During the hearing, Camilleri took the opportunity to mock Giuliani's infamous press conference at the Four Seasons Total Landscaping parking lot in Philadelphia.
“This is not Four Seasons Landscaping – this is the Michigan State Legislature,” Camilleri pointed out to Giuliani.
At another point, Camilleri brought up reports suggesting that Giuliani was seeking a preemptive pardon from Trump.
It was during this exchange that Giuliani appeared to fart right after requesting that the committee chair punish Camilleri for his comments.
While the chances of two farts being edited into a livestream were already slim, Camilleri's firsthand account from
