Cara Delevingne Proudly Displays Psoriasis at the Met Gala

Cara Delevingne is receiving praise for her bold choice to embrace her psoriasis on the red carpet at the Met Gala.

In a society that often deems imperfections as flaws, it is refreshing to see a celebrity refusing to hide a part of themselves.

While many celebrities are now advocating against photoshopping, it still takes courage to defy the demand for perfection, especially when surrounded by A-listers who have spent hours perfecting their appearance.

Delevingne arrived at the event wearing a red suit and, while posing for photographs, removed her blazer to reveal that she was t0pless underneath.

Covered in gold body paint and adorned with gold necklaces, the only parts of her body not covered were the areas affected by psoriasis and some of her tattoos.

The red, itchy, scaly patches caused by psoriasis were visible on her elbows and other areas, as she intentionally left them exposed.

Psoriasis is a common, chronic skin disease with no cure.

It goes through cycles of flaring up for a few weeks or months, then subsiding or going into remission.

Other celebrities, such as Jonathan Van Ness, , Lala Anthony, and , have also spoken openly about their experiences with psoriasis, promoting acceptance and understanding.

This is not the first time Delevingne has proudly displayed her psoriasis.

In 2013, she revealed a flare-up on her stomach to reporters backstage at a fashion show in Paris, stating that it affects her entire body.

She explained that stress tends to trigger her symptoms, and sometimes a vacation is the best remedy.

In an interview with The Times in 2015, Delevingne shared that some of her coworkers were afraid to touch her due to misconceptions about psoriasis being contagious.

This negative experience contributed to her decision to step away from the fashion industry, as she felt it did not allow her to grow as a person.

She expressed feeling older than her years and wanting to prioritize her well-being.

Delevingne's journey towards accepting her skin condition is empowering and sends an important message to viewers of the Met Gala and beyond.

It reminds us that we are all human and have aspects of ourselves that may initially be deemed less desirable but should be celebrated and embraced without apology.

While most of us may not be ready to walk around in just body paint, stilettos, and a cane, Delevingne's boldness encourages us to think twice before covering up our own skin conditions or blemishes.

Her example promotes self-acceptance and girl power, inspiring others to care for and celebrate every aspect of themselves.
