Daniel Craig, the actor known for his portrayal of 007 in the James Bond franchise, recently shared a memorable incident from the set of Spectre during an appearance on The Graham Norton Show.
Reflecting on the production of the previous Bond film, Craig recounted a moment where he inadvertently broke Dave Bautista's nose, causing him to panic and flee from his formidable co-star.
As Craig explained, he threw a punch that landed directly on Bautista's nose, resulting in an audible crack.
Fearing the consequences, Craig swiftly retreated, expecting Bautista to pursue him.
However, much to his relief, Bautista displayed unexpected kindness by resetting his own nose.
Production resumed without further incident, prompting Craig to acknowledge Bautista's resilience, stating, “He's a lot tougher than I am.
I'll give him that.”
Nevertheless, Bautista eventually got his revenge on Craig, but only at the actor's request.
During another fight scene, Craig made the ill-advised decision to ask Bautista to exert more force while slamming him against a wall.
Instantly regretting this choice, Craig found himself in considerable pain, with his knee dislocated from its original position.
He described the experience as unsettling, as one instinctively knows when a serious injury has occurred.
Despite sustaining injuries while filming both Spectre and the upcoming No Time To Die, Craig expressed mixed emotions about witnessing the announcement of his Bond successor.
Although he had contemplated leaving the franchise in the past, those sentiments have softened in recent years.
Consequently, Craig confessed to Norton that he isn't quite prepared to witness another actor donning the iconic tuxedo, asserting, “It's very emotional…
I'm glad I am ending it on my own terms.
I'm grateful to the producers for letting me do that.
But I sure miss it.
I'll probably be incredibly bitter when the new person takes over.”
Fortunately for Craig, he will have ample time to mentally prepare for the selection of the next 007.
According to Variety, Bond producer Barbara Broccoli intends to take her time in finding Craig's replacement, with the search for a new actor not commencing until well into 2022.
