During an episode of The Tonight Show, Blake Lively opened up about the hand injury she sustained while filming The Rhythm Section.
In December 2018, Lively suffered a hand injury that led to the temporary suspension of production on the Reed Morano film.
Originally set to be released in February of last year, the film was later rescheduled for January 31, 2020.
Lively described Morano's style of shooting as intense and beautiful.
She explained that the action in the film is incredible and that Morano wanted the audience to truly feel the character.
However, Lively soon realized that this meant she had to perform the challenging scenes herself.
One particular scene involved a four-minute fight between Lively and Jude Law.
It was during this scene that she injured her hand.
Lively explained that she severed a ligament, dislocated two bones, and broke some others after punching Law's elbow.
She humorously described her hand turning into “party confetti” upon impact.
Following the injury, Lively underwent two surgeries on her hand.
However, she shared that her visit to the hospital didn't go as planned.
When the doctor came to check on her, she joked that she got into a fight and he should see the other guy.
Unfortunately, the doctor didn't understand the joke, making the trip to the hospital seem “useless.”
Lively humorously remarked that she had given her right hand for the movie.
After the surgeries, Lively endured rigorous physical therapy.
She mentioned her attractive physical therapist, comparing him to a combination of Zac Efron, Fabio, and a Ken doll.
Lively explained how important respiration was during therapy, especially due to the pain involved.
Lively also shared that her husband, Ryan Reynolds, was present on set during her physical therapy appointments, although he slept in during one of them.
She jokingly expressed her desire for her husband's support while working with the handsome therapist.
During the interview, Lively spoke about her daughter James, who is a big fan of Jimmy Fallon.
She described how her daughter was intimidated by Fallon and imitated her nervous reaction when Lively told her she would be appearing on his show.
Lively humorously mentioned that James considers Fallon to be like Beyoncé, and they even have cardboard cutouts of him at home.
Lively and Fallon played a game called “Box of Lies” during the segment.
The objective of the game was to describe unusual objects from boxes and guess if the other person was lying.
Lively won the first round by accurately describing an hourglass filled with milk and cereal.
In the subsequent rounds, both Lively and Fallon fooled each other with their descriptions of peculiar items.
In conclusion, Blake Lively shared the story behind her hand injury on the set of The Rhythm Section, discussed her hospital visit, and talked about her daughter's admiration for Jimmy Fallon.
She also engaged in a fun game of “Box of Lies” with the host.
