In a shocking turn of events, Arthur Richard Jackson, a Scottish drifter, has pleaded innocent to charges of attempted murder and assault after allegedly stalking and brutally stabbing actress Theresa Saldana.
The plea was entered during a brief Superior Court arraignment, with a pretrial hearing scheduled for May 11.
Jackson is currently being held on $100,000 bail, as authorities continue to investigate the motive behind the attack.
The incident occurred last month outside Saldana’s West Hollywood apartment, where she suffered multiple stab wounds, including a punctured lung.
Fortunately, she has since been released from Cedars-Sinai Medical Center and is now recovering at home.
However, she did not make an appearance in court.
The attack took place as Saldana was on her way to a music class on the morning of March 15.
Eyewitnesses reported that Jackson used such force during the assault that he actually bent his own knife.
Thankfully, a passing deliveryman heard Saldana’s cries for help, intervened, and detained Jackson until law enforcement arrived at the scene.
During the arraignment, it became evident that Jackson has a troubled past.
Having previously been a patient in mental hospitals both in the United States and Great Britain, he appeared bewildered and confused by the proceedings.
