Mark Wahlberg, the renowned American actor known for his roles in action movies and rap music, has a dark past that many are unaware of.
While he is now a successful star, his early years were marked by a series of offenses and a troubled attitude.
In his youth, Wahlberg was part of a rough-and-tumble group with a prejudiced mindset.
During a fight, he attacked Johnny Trinh, causing an injury to his left eye and subjecting him to racial slurs.
However, due to his age at the time, Wahlberg only served 45 days of his two-year sentence for attempted murder.
Years later, a chance encounter allowed Wahlberg to reconcile with his past and mend fences with Trinh.
After more than two decades of silence, Trinh came forward to reveal that the actor's actions did not cause serious harm.
Speaking to Daily Mail, Trinh explained that he had already lost vision in one eye due to injuries sustained while fighting in the Vietnam War.
He clarified, “I was not blinded by Mark Wahlberg…he did hurt me, but my left eye was already gone.
He was not responsible for that.
He was young and reckless, but I forgive him now.
Everyone deserves another chance.
I would like to see him receive a pardon.
He should not have the burden of this crime hanging over him any longer.
He paid for his actions when he went to prison.”
Wahlberg also reflected on the incident during an interview with The Wrap, acknowledging the impact it had on his life.
He stated, “I didn't need that.
I spent 28 years righting the wrong…I was relieved to find out that the injuries to his eye had occurred in the early '70s and not from the incident that happened that night…But I was able to meet with him, his wife, and his daughter and apologize for those horrific acts.
Some good did come out of it.”
This encounter served as a turning point for Wahlberg, prompting him to reflect on his past and seek redemption.
His commitment to making amends and taking responsibility for his actions has been evident
