Gerard Depardieu Causes Disturbance on Plane After Urinating in Aisle
Gerard Depardieu, the notorious French film star known for his wild behavior and excessive drinking, has once again made headlines.
This time, he was caught urinating in the aisle of a packed plane just as it was about to take off.
On Tuesday evening, as the flight from Paris to Dublin was preparing for take-off, Depardieu loudly exclaimed, “I need to p***, I need to p***.”
However, cabin crew informed him that he would have to wait until the plane was airborne and the seat-belt signs were turned off.
Unwilling to comply, Depardieu took matters into his own hands.
Witnesses on the plane reported that the 62-year-old actor, known for his roles in films like Cyrano de Bergerac and Green Card, stood up, unzipped his flies, and proceeded to urinate in the aisle.
Stewards immediately alerted the captain, citing “security and safety issues.”
As a result, the Air France Avro RJ85 returned to the gate, and Depardieu was asked to disembark.
Two of his companions also chose to leave with him.
The plane had to be cleaned before it could depart, causing a delay of nearly two hours.
A female passenger named Daniele, who witnessed the incident, described Depardieu as “clearly drunk” and stated that he repeatedly demanded to use the restroom while the plane was taxiing.
However, the flight attendant informed him that he would have to wait 15 minutes until they were airborne.
Ignoring her instructions, Depardieu proceeded to urinate on the floor.
Depardieu’s friends, however, provided a different account of the incident.
They claimed that he was “absolutely not drunk” and had simply been caught in an urgent situation with no access to a restroom.
According to them, he tried to urinate discreetly into an empty bottle and offered to clean up any spills himself.
Nevertheless, the crew decided to return to the terminal and have him escorted off the plane by ground crew.
No charges or fines were imposed on Depardieu, and he was able to catch the next flight to Dublin.
He was returning to Ireland for the filming of Asterix and Obelix: God Save Britannia, in which he plays the character Obelix.
Depardieu has long been open about his excessive drinking habits.
In a 2005 interview, he admitted, “When I’m stressed, I still drink five or six bottles of wine a day.”
This incident only adds to his reputation as a larger-than-life figure who refuses to conform to societal norms.
