Margot Robbie, the talented actress known for her role in “The Wolf of Wall Street,” faced a difficult scene during the making of the film.
Despite her dedication and willingness to push boundaries for her breakthrough role, there was one particular scene that Robbie struggled with.
Although Robbie had previously appeared in the sci-fi romcom “About Time,” it was her role in “The Wolf of Wall Street” that catapulted her to A-list status.
Initially, Robbie's team doubted her chances of securing a role in the Martin Scorsese-directed film.
“I said, ‘If I was a dude, I'd wanna be in this, but I've got no interest in playing a gold-digger mistress.'
And my managers said, ‘Okay, Margot, that's great, but it's a Scorsese film.
We're obviously not expecting you to get this role,'” Robbie revealed.
However, Robbie's audition impressed Scorsese enough to grant her a screen test.
She famously won the role by slapping her co-star Leonardo DiCaprio during the audition.
Despite her success, Robbie believed she would be overshadowed by DiCaprio in the film.
“No one's gonna notice me in this film.
It doesn't matter what I do in this film because they're gonna focus on Leo and I'll just slip under the radar,” she thought at the time.
Robbie played an integral part in creating many iconic scenes in “The Wolf of Wall Street.”
One memorable moment involved her character seducing DiCaprio in a nursery room while using the heels of her stiletto shoes to tease him and prevent him from touching her.
Originally, the scene called for Robbie to remove her underwear with her stiletto heel.
However, she immediately realized that it was an impossible task.
After practicing the scene, she confirmed her initial instincts and decided to improvise a different approach.
“It doesn't come across when you're watching the movie, but in reality, we're in a tiny bedroom with 30 crew crammed in.
All men.
And for 17 hours, I'm pretending to be touching myself.
It's just a very weird thing, and you have to bury the embarrassment and absurdity really deep and fully commit,” Robbie shared about the challenging seduction scene.
While Robbie thoroughly enjoyed her time on the set of “The Wolf of Wall Street,” there was one scene she warned others against attempting in real life.
It involved her and DiCaprio engaging in a passionate moment on top of a pile of money.
However, the experience was far from glamorous, as the fake money caused numerous paper cuts on Robbie's back.
“It's not as glamorous as it sounds.
If anyone is ever planning on having s** on top of a pile of cash: don't.
Or maybe real money is a bit softer, but the fake money is like paper, and when I got up off the bed, I turned around to get my robe and everyone gasped.
I said, ‘What is it?'
And they said, ‘You look like you've been whipped a million times.
Your back is covered in a thousand red scratches,'” Robbie recalled.
Despite the challenges she faced on set, Margot Robbie's exceptional performance in “The Wolf of Wall Street” solidified her status as a talented actress in Hollywood.
Her willingness to take risks and adapt scenes to suit her abilities showcases her dedication to her craft.
