Barbra Streisand Reflects on Lack of s**ual Harassment, Cites Appearance

In a recent interview, renowned singer revealed that she has never experienced s**ual harassment throughout her career.

She suggested that her appearance may have played a role in protecting her from such incidents.

While Streisand acknowledged the prevalence of gender inequality and the impact of the #MeToo movement, she expressed gratitude for having avoided mistreatment.

During a tribute event celebrating Streisand's contributions to TV music specials and other programs, producer Ryan Murphy, a long-time admirer, engaged her in a conversation about her career, the #MeToo movement, and her aversion to interviews.

When asked if she had ever been s**ually mistreated, Streisand responded with a simple “never,” adding, “I wasn't like those pretty girls with those nice little noses.

Maybe that's why.”

Streisand also touched upon the current state of affairs regarding gender dynamics, acknowledging the back-and-forth nature of progress and the need for balance.

She emphasized the importance of finding a middle ground in order to address the ongoing issues between men and women.

The singer's reluctance to engage with news outlets stems from years of inaccurate reporting, including one story that falsely claimed she had a dedicated room at home for all her awards.

However, it was her encounter with late TV journalist Mike Wallace that left a lasting impact.

Streisand described the interview as hurtful and a violation, recalling how Wallace defended his approach despite her objections.

This encounter brought her to tears during a 1991 episode of “60 Minutes.”

While Streisand demands control over her work, she clarified that this drive is rooted in her dedication to her art.

From directing and producing TV movies to acting, she has consistently used her platform to shed light on important issues.

One notable example is her 1995 project, “Serving in Silence: The Margarethe Cammermeyer Story,” which explored anti-gay discrimination within the military.

During the tribute event, Murphy, known for his work on shows like “Glee” and “American Horror Story,” expressed his admiration for Streisand, describing her as more than just a female star but rather a trailblazer who defied societal norms.

He credited her as a significant influence on his own career, calling her a beacon he has followed throughout his life.

The PaleyFest LA television festival opened with this tribute to Streisand, culminating in her receiving the 2018 PaleyFest Icon award.

Maureen J. Reidy, President and CEO of the Paley Center, commended Streisand's multifaceted talent as a singer, actress, director, and producer.

Streisand's political activism, particularly in support of Democratic candidates and gay rights, has also contributed to her influential legacy.
