In a revealing essay titled “Movie Star: They Always Say They're Single,” Jessica Simpson opens up about a scandalous affair she had with an unnamed movie star.
The essay, published on Amazon on February 1, delves into the intimate details of their relationship.
Simpson, now 42, describes their first meeting at the 2001 Video Music Awards, where she caught the attention of the megastar.
She writes, “This megastar, who I grew up thinking was so hot, eyeballed me up and down.
Like he was undressing me with his eyes.”
At the time, Simpson was navigating a breakup with her then-husband Nick Lachey.
The pair quickly hit it off, but Simpson wasn't initially ready to take things further.
However, fate intervened when she ran into him again at a gym in Los Angeles.
It was there that she extended an invitation for him to star in one of her upcoming music videos.
“I offered to this man who made millions and millions per film, ‘You could be my lead guy,'” Simpson reveals in her essay.
Their connection was put on hold when Simpson reconciled with Lachey in September 2001.
However, after her divorce from Lachey, she reconnected with her mystery man.
Their reunion happened when he first kissed her at the Beverly Hills Hilton, leaving Simpson with a warm rush throughout her body.
But their romance faced challenges when red carpet pictures of her supposed beau with his then-girlfriend surfaced.
Simpson was heartbroken and decided she would not be the other woman.
She recalls the movie star telling her that their relationship was “completely over” and expressing his interest only in pursuing her.
Despite their intense connection, Simpson felt demeaned by their relationship.
She describes feeling like a call girl and being hidden from his “chick.”
She admits that although there was something s**y about it, she wouldn't have made the same choice as her younger self.
Their whirlwind romance included attending nightclubs together and bonding over the birth of Simpson's goddaughter.
Simpson even visited him on a movie set, but she felt like she was only there for s**ual purposes.
Eventually, Simpson decided to end the affair and left his room the next day.
She went on to marry former football player Eric Johnson in 2014.
Simpson and Johnson share three children together and have a strong, loving marriage.
Reflecting on their relationship, Simpson says, “I don't feel like our marriage has been long, but I feel like I've loved Eric my whole life.”
