Eddie Murphy, the renowned actor, has reportedly displayed no interest in getting to know his ten-year-old daughter with Mel B, the former Spice Girl.
Angel, their child, was born in 2008, but controversy arose when Murphy sought a paternity test at the time.
Now, in court, Murphy's lawyer has revealed that he is simply “not interested” in Angel.
Meanwhile, Mel B's ex-husband, Stephen Belafonte, is attempting to gain step-parent visitation rights with the child.
Belafonte's lawyer, Grace Jamra, informed the court that she has repeatedly tried to contact Murphy to discuss the request, but has received no direct response.
Belafonte claims that Angel has referred to him as “dad” since she started speaking, yet Murphy has had no contact with her.
Jamra further stated that she had attempted to serve legal papers to Murphy, but he has been avoiding them.
On Wednesday, Brown and Belafonte appeared in court to battle over visitation rights.
Brown adamantly opposed granting Belafonte any visitation rights for her other two step-children, Phoenix and Angel.
She alleged that Belafonte recently made Angel watch videos of ISIS beheadings, which she found entirely inappropriate and frightening for such young girls who do not understand the content.
The couple shares joint custody of their six-year-old daughter, Madison.
Last year, they filed for divorce after being married for ten years.
Brown accused Belafonte of physical and emotional abuse during their marriage.
The divorce was granted on November 15th, 2020.
