Tennis superstar Venus Williams has reached a settlement in a wrongful death lawsuit concerning a tragic car accident that occurred in Florida.
According to court records from Palm Beach County, the case was officially closed last week, although the specific terms of the agreement between Williams and the estate of Jerome Barson were not disclosed.
The Palm Beach Gardens police had previously cleared both Williams and Linda Barson, wife of Jerome Barson, of any wrongdoing in relation to the June 2017 crash that claimed the life of Barson, who was 78 years old at the time.
Investigators determined that video evidence showed Williams had the right of way as she entered a busy intersection, but another vehicle turned left in front of her, causing her to come to a stop.
Williams then attempted to complete her maneuver, but the traffic light for the Barsons’ vehicle turned green, resulting in a collision with Williams’ SUV.
