In a surprising turn of events, Arnold Schwarzenegger has publicly apologized for his past actions of groping women.
This comes two decades after he dismissed the allegations as fabrications.
The controversy arose when six women accused the Hollywood star of groping and humiliating them in a report published by the Los Angeles Times in 2003.
The timing of the investigation coincided with the lead-up to the 2003 California governor election, in which Schwarzenegger emerged victorious.
At that time, he vehemently denied the allegations, deeming them false and launched a scathing attack on the media for targeting him.
However, in a recent three-part Netflix docuseries titled “Arnold,” the actor-turned-politician has had a change of heart.
According to Rolling Stone, he admitted that his initial reaction was defensive and now acknowledges the wrongfulness of his past actions.
Schwarzenegger stated, “Today, I can reflect on it and confidently say that it doesn't matter when it happened.
Whether it was during my Muscle Beach days 40 years ago or today, it was unequivocally wrong.
All the excuses hold no weight.
It was wrong.”
Shockingly, a total of 15 women have come forward over the span of three decades, accusing Schwarzenegger of groping them.
The revelations shed light on a deeply troubling pattern of behavior that went unchecked for far too long.
Carla Hall, a reporter for the LA Times, expressed her surprise at the lack of impact the story had on the 2003 election.
She believed that more people would have been personally offended by Schwarzenegger's actions and held him accountable.
The documentary, “Arnold,” delves into Schwarzenegger's acting and political career, providing an intimate look at his life.
