The Unheard Tapes theories explained

The Mystery Unveiled: Exploring Theories Surrounding 's Death

Investigative journalist Anthony Summers has recently released a new film that sheds light on the mysterious circumstances surrounding the death of Hollywood icon .

The film, titled “The Mystery of Marilyn Monroe: The Unheard Tapes,” utilizes audio recordings from Summers' extensive research, which began in 1982 when the Los Angeles County District Attorney reopened the investigation into Monroe's death.

Summers' investigation involved conducting 650 tape-recorded interviews and resulted in the publication of his 1985 Monroe biography, “Goddess: The Secret Lives of Marilyn Monroe.”

This biography presented new evidence and uncovered previously unknown details about the events leading up to Monroe's untimely demise.

The film delves into Monroe's troubled childhood, marked by numerous stints in foster homes, and explores the dark underbelly of Hollywood, where female talent was often exploited.

It also delves into Monroe's well-known marriages and alleged relationships with political figures such as Bobby and John F. Kennedy.

One intriguing aspect of Summers' interviews is the revelation that intelligence agencies were concerned about Monroe's associations with communist expatriates linked to Fidel Castro's regime in Cuba.

There were fears that she may have been divulging government secrets to these individuals.

“The Mystery of Marilyn Monroe: The Unheard Tapes” also includes recordings of Monroe herself, showcasing her passion for cinema from an early age.

In one recording, she expresses her admiration for Jean Harlow as her inspiration.

The documentary features contributions from various individuals who were connected to Monroe, including her psychiatrist Ralph Greenson, actress Jane Russell, filmmaker John Huston, and director Billy Wilder.

However, the burning question remains: How did Marilyn Monroe die?

The film explores several theories surrounding her death:

Theory 1: Overdose
In August 1962, an official coroner ruled Monroe's death at the age of 36 as an overdose, possibly a suicide.

She was found unresponsive in her bed at her Los Angeles home, alongside a bottle of sleeping pills and a telephone off the hook.

Despite the case being reopened in 1982, the original ruling remained unchanged.

The district attorney stated that Monroe either took her own life or accidentally overdosed.

The case was subsequently closed.

Summers acknowledges the possibility that Monroe died by suicide or accidental overdose.

He also suggests that FBI investigators may have cleared her home to remove any evidence of her alleged involvement with Bobby and John F. Kennedy.

Theory 2: Connection to the Kennedy Brothers
There are inconsistencies regarding the time, location, and individuals present at the scene of Monroe's death.

According to surveillance expert Reed Wilson, called Monroe on the night of her death, with Monroe allegedly telling him to leave her alone.

Monroe's housekeeper, Eunice Murray, claimed to have discovered her body around 3 am.

However, Natalie Jacobs, the widow of Monroe's publicist Arthur Jacobs, asserts that her husband received the news of Monroe's death at 11 pm.

The documentary further alleges that an FBI investigator arrived at Monroe's home shortly after her death to remove anything that could potentially implicate the Kennedy brothers.

Additionally, senior FBI agent Jim Doyle revealed to Summers that federal officials had arrived at Monroe's residence well before the police, contradicting the reported time of 4:25 am.

Paramedics who were called to the scene also shared peculiar details.

They claimed that Monroe was comatose but still alive when they found her and that they transported her via ambulance to a hospital in Santa Monica.

Contrary to popular belief, Monroe's psychiatrist, Greenson, allegedly informed journalist John Sherlock that she died en route to the hospital and was later brought back to her home.

Informant Harry Hall suggests that Monroe's death was treated as a “hush-hush” matter, with and the FBI taking significant measures to suppress any information that could implicate them.

Theory 3: Murder
Despite the numerous uncertainties surrounding Monroe's death, Summers concludes that she likely died by suicide or accidental overdose.

He did not find any evidence to suggest that she was deliberately killed.

The truth about Monroe's final moments remains elusive.

As the documentary hauntingly concludes with an audio recording of Monroe herself, it becomes evident that the real facts often fail to circulate widely, while falsehoods persist.

“The Mystery of Marilyn Monroe: The Unheard Tapes” is now available for streaming on Netflix.
