French actor Gerard Depardieu has expressed his regret over a recent incident in which he urinated in front of fellow passengers on a flight to Dublin.
According to a friend of Depardieu, the actor was denied access to the lavatory as the plane was preparing for take-off, leading him to relieve himself in a bottle.
Depardieu’s travel companion, actor Edouard Baer, explained that his friend has prostate problems and had not consumed alcohol prior to the incident.
Baer also claimed that he handed Depardieu the bottle as a solution, but it ended up overflowing.
He emphasized that the situation was distressing and embarrassing for Depardieu, who usually does not exhibit such behavior.
The incident occurred while Depardieu was en route to Ireland to film “Asterix and Obelix: God Save Britannia” with Cityjet.
After being removed from the initial flight, Depardieu caught a later one to Dublin.
A passenger on the CityJet plane contacted a French radio station to report that Depardieu had stood up moments before take-off and loudly declared his need to urinate.
This prompted the captain to return the aircraft to the terminal at Charles de Gaulle airport and remove Depardieu from the flight.
Cityjet, a subsidiary of Air France, confirmed the delay caused by the incident.
They stated that the flight, AF5010, was scheduled to depart from Paris to Dublin at 6:45 PM but was held up due to the passenger refusing to remain seated during taxiing.
In light of the incident, Depardieu issued an apology through his representative to the French media.
He expressed remorse for the “humiliating” situation and offered to clean up the mess he had made.
Furthermore, he reiterated that his actions were out of character and attributed them to his health condition.
While Depardieu’s public urination incident has gained attention, it is important to remember that he is a renowned actor with a successful career.
His contribution to the film industry should not be overshadowed
