Hugh Jackman, the renowned actor known for his iconic role as Wolverine in the X-Men series, has had his fair share of embarrassing moments throughout his career.
Despite being a heartthrob on screen and in real life, the 54-year-old star recently reminisced about a particularly embarrassing incident that occurred during a performance.
In an interview that commemorates its 15th anniversary this year, Jackman shared the story of when he accidentally wet himself while singing onstage.
Yes, you read that correctly – the beloved actor peed his pants!
Read on to discover how and why this unexpected mishap took place, and how the audience reacted to it.
According to People magazine, Jackman recounted the incident during an interview with Playboy back in December 2008.
He explained that while performing in the musical Beauty and the Beast, he was experiencing dehydration-induced headaches and was advised to drink a substantial amount of water.
Little did he know that this decision would lead to an unforgettable moment.
“I had just used the restroom, but while waiting in the wings, I suddenly felt the need to go again,” Jackman recalled.
“I thought to myself, ‘I'll be fine.'”
However, things took an unexpected turn.
As he prepared to sing the final note of a significant duet, a thought crossed his mind: “If I hit this note, I'm going to pee my pants; if I don't, I'll face humiliation.”
In that moment, the actor within him took control, and he sang the note while simultaneously realizing, “Wow, I'm actually peeing my pants.”
As Jackman finished his performance and turned away from the audience, he couldn't see any visible signs of his accident.
He assumed his red tights were waterproof and found the situation amusing, thinking he had gotten away with it.
However, the audience's peculiar expressions quickly shattered that illusion.
The wetness had seeped through his pants, leading to a rather embarrassing revelation for everyone present.
During the same interview, Jackman also shared another amusing interaction with a fan during his performance in The Boy From Oz.
A woman had rushed to the front of the stage and boldly lifted her top, revealing her ample bosom.
Jackman couldn't contain his laughter and jokingly responded, “I'm glad you got that off your chest.”
These anecdotes from Hugh Jackman's career serve as a reminder that even the most beloved celebrities have their fair share of embarrassing moments.
