In the midst of Mel B's ongoing custody battle with ex-husband Stephen Belafonte, she has accused comedian Eddie Murphy of having no desire to be involved in the life of their 10-year-old daughter.
The court proceedings in Los Angeles focused on the issue of visitation rights for Angel, the child that Belafonte claims to have raised as his own.
According to the Daily Mail, Mel B and Belafonte argued over who should have access to the child.
Belafonte stated that Angel has regarded him as her father since she began speaking.
However, Mel B countered by asserting that Belafonte is a “bad man” who has been abusive towards her and she does not want him near any of their three children.
Last week, reports emerged that Belafonte allegedly exposed their daughters to violent ISIS beheading videos, as reported by the New York Daily News.
In court documents filed on March 1 and obtained by The Blast, Mel B requested the termination of Belafonte's rights to interact with their three daughters due to his showing them these disturbing videos.
Mel B claimed that Belafonte found it amusing or educational to expose their children to such content when she was not present.
She described the videos as showing ISIS beheadings and expressed concern about their impact on the children.
Mel B has three daughters from different fathers: Phoenix, 19; Angel, 10; and Madison, 6.
Belafonte is Madison's father, while Phoenix's father is Jimmy Gulzar and Angel's father is Eddie Murphy.
Belafonte has already been granted joint custody of Madison, but during the court proceedings, his lawyer, Grace Jamra, argued that he has been the only father figure in Angel's life.
Jamra mentioned that she had attempted to contact Eddie Murphy to discuss Belafonte's request to be recognized as a step-parent, but Murphy has ignored their efforts.
According to Jamra, Murphy has shown no interest in being involved with Angel.
“Mr. Murphy has had no contact with the child,” she informed the court.
Additionally, when Jamra attempted to serve Murphy with legal papers, she claimed that he avoided these attempts.
It appears that Eddie Murphy is not interested in maintaining a relationship with his 10-year-old daughter, which seems to be a disappointing outcome for Mel B.
