In a surprising turn of events, Elon Musk’s 18-year-old daughter has made the decision to legally change her name, completely dissociating herself from her billionaire father.
This revelation came to light on Monday when legal filings were uncovered, shedding light on her desire to distance herself from Musk.
Expressing her strong stance, she stated in her petition for a name change and new birth certificate, “I no longer live with or wish to be related to my biological father in any way, shape, or form.”
This bold move indicates a significant rift between them.
Moreover, it was revealed that upon turning 18, the legal age of consent in California, Musk’s daughter also decided to change her gender recognition from male to female.
These changes signify her desire for independence and self-identity.
The documents regarding these changes were filed with the Los Angeles County Superior Court in Santa Monica back in April.
However, they only recently surfaced in online media reports, creating a stir.
Interestingly, the online document redacted her new name, keeping it hidden from the public eye.
Her mother, Justine Wilson, who was previously married to Elon Musk from 2000 to 2008, supported her daughter’s decision.
Wilson has not yet responded to further requests for comment.
In a tweet on Tuesday, Wilson expressed her pride in her daughter, stating, “I had a weird childhood,” to which her daughter responded with equal pride, “I’m proud of myself!”
Unfortunately, representatives for Musk’s daughter could not be reached immediately for additional information on the reasons behind her decision to sever ties with her father.
Elon Musk, the world’s wealthiest individual, is currently making headlines for his $44 billion bid to acquire the social media platform Twitter.
On Tuesday, Twitter’s board unanimously recommended shareholders approve the proposed sale, as stated in a regulatory filing.
Musk’s commitment to this acquisition was reaffirmed during a recent virtual meeting with Twitter employees, although he did acknowledge that there are unresolved matters related to the deal.
In response to media outlets publishing the story about his daughter and her name change, Musk criticized their actions in a statement to The Daily Beast.
He emphasized the importance of respecting her right to privacy, stating, “She does not want to be a public figure.”
Musk’s request for privacy has not deterred further inquiries for comment.
