Jackie Chan, the renowned Hong Kong action star who once captured the hearts of American audiences, is making headlines again.
A clip from one of his movies, titled Ride On, has gone viral and sparked confusion regarding his daughter.
The clip features Jackie, portraying a retired stuntman, watching scenes from his past films with his on-screen daughter.
However, some viewers mistakenly believed it was Jackie watching the stunts with his real-life daughter.
Let's delve into the details surrounding Jackie Chan's daughter.
To clarify the confusion, a user stated that the clip did not feature Jackie and his actual daughter.
Instead, the tweet alleged that Jackie disowned his daughter in 2017 due to her s**ual orientation as a lesbian.
It further claimed that she and her partner were now homeless as a consequence.
Such a scandal would be truly shocking considering Jackie's efforts to maintain a wholesome public image, despite his occasionally controversial political views concerning the Chinese government.
While there is some truth to the tweet, not all of its claims are accurate.
Jackie does indeed have a daughter named Etta Ng, and they are estranged.
Jackie has been married to Joan Lin for over four decades, but in 1999, news broke of his affair with Elaine Ng Yi-lei, a beauty queen who was 19 years younger than him.
During a press conference at that time, Jackie acknowledged that Elaine was pregnant with his child, who would later become Etta.
“I'm not without fault.
I've made mistakes, just like many men in the world.
Maybe it was a moment of foolishness,” admitted Jackie.
Eventually, his wife decided to reconcile with him.
It is believed that Jackie severed all ties with Elaine upon discovering her pregnancy.
He has never met his daughter and seemingly provided no financial support for her upbringing.
“He is my biological father, but he is not a part of my life.
He has never played a role in my life.
I will never view him as my father.
As long as I have my mother, I don't need him,” Etta stated in an interview with E!
News in 2015.
Two years later, Etta publicly came out as gay on Instagram and posted a video with her partner, revealing that she had faced homelessness due to homophobic parents.
Although the video has since been deleted, Etta recently clarified that she is now leading a “blissful” life.
Now, let's turn our attention to Jackie Chan's son.
