Renowned Hollywood actor David Carradine, famous for his role in Quentin Tarantino’s ‘Kill Bill’, was discovered dead under mysterious circumstances in a hotel in Bangkok.
The 72-year-old actor, who played the lead character in the two-part saga ‘Kill Bill’, was found hanging from a curtain cord in his room at the Park Nai Lert Hotel, as reported by Thailand’s The Nation newspaper.
Carradine, who rose to fame with the popular 70s show ‘Kung Fu’, was in Bangkok to film his upcoming movie ‘Stretch’.
Hotel staff stumbled upon his lifeless body hanging n^ked in the wardrobe, with a cord around his neck and genitals.
This has led to speculation that the star accidentally asphyxiated himself while engaging in a s**ual act.
Local police, however, have classified the incident as a suicide.
“It appears to be a suicide.
Given his size, it would have been challenging for someone else to move him into the wardrobe and kill him there,” explained Pol Col Somprasong Yentuam, Chief of Lumpini police.
Investigators found no signs of a struggle, forced entry, or any indication of assault at the scene.
Contrary to the police’s theory, the star’s manager vehemently denied the possibility of suicide.
“I can assure you that he would never have taken his own life.
He had a zest for life,” stated Tiffany Smith, Carradine’s manager, in an interview with US magazine People.
While Carradine had openly battled with drugs, alcohol, and suicidal tendencies in the past, his manager asserted that he was in good spirits and eagerly looking forward to working on his current film, with three more lined up upon his return to the United States.
“We are not claiming it was an accidental death because we simply don’t know yet,” Smith clarified.
“At this point, we are informing everyone that it is under investigation, and we will wait and see…
I just know he didn’t do this to himself.”
The news of Carradine’s death has left his family in shock.
In a statement, the actor’s niece, actress Martha Plimpton, expressed the family’s profound sense of loss.
