In a recent interview with the Daily Mirror, Dolly Parton finally addressed the long-standing rumors surrounding her alleged romance with former co-star Burt Reynolds.
The iconic singer and actress confessed that she “couldn't wait” to share an on-screen bed with Reynolds, but was quick to clarify that this was strictly in the context of their movie roles.
The pair had the opportunity to work together in the 1982 film musical, “The Best Little Whorehouse in Texas.”
Parton portrayed the character of Mona Stangley, the madam of a notorious establishment, while Reynolds played the role of the sheriff with whom her character was romantically involved.
Reynolds, who sadly passed away at the age of 82 in September, was known for his playful banter and flirtatious nature towards the voluptuous star.
He once expressed his admiration for Parton, stating that it was a “wonderful” experience working with her and jokingly mentioning how he gradually found himself captivated by her face as they spent more time together off-camera.
However, Parton made it clear that their romantic connection was solely confined to their on-screen performances, emphasizing that they were more like siblings than lovers.
She described their relationship as one filled with honesty and open communication, similar to her friendship with Kenny Rogers.
According to Parton, they never held any secrets from each other and were able to see through any attempts to deceive or manipulate.
Despite Reynolds' passing, Parton cherished their enduring friendship until the very end.
She acknowledged that the final years of his life were challenging, and she deeply mourned the loss of someone she considered a true kindred spirit.
Parton remarked on their similarities, noting that they were both “good ol' boy and girl
