Actor Jeremy Renner, known for his role as Hawkeye in Marvel’s “Avengers” and his appearance in the series “Mayor of Kingstown,” revealed on Instagram that he broke over 30 bones in a recent snowplow accident.
Despite the severity of his injuries, Renner expressed gratitude for the support of his loved ones.
The incident occurred when Renner was clearing snow for a neighbor near his residence in Reno, Nevada.
A PistenBully snowplow, weighing at least 7 tons, ran him over on New Year’s Day.
Washoe County Sheriff Darin Balaam shared during a press conference that Renner had approached a family member when the snowplow unexpectedly began moving towards him.
In an attempt to prevent further harm, Renner jumped into the driver’s seat but was ultimately run over.
Due to inclement weather conditions, it took approximately 40 minutes for first responders to arrive at the scene.
During this time, nearby neighbors provided assistance to Renner.
He endured blunt chest trauma and orthopedic injuries, which required intensive care treatment.
Renner’s representative, Sam Mast, stated that although his condition was critical, he was stable.
After spending more than two weeks in the hospital, Renner recently returned home.
In response to a tweet from the official account of “Mayor of Kingstown” promoting its second season, Renner expressed his excitement about watching the first episode with his family.
Despite experiencing some foggy-headedness during recovery, he remains enthusiastic about his ongoing rehabilitation.
Renner, a two-time Oscar nominee, had previously shared images and videos on Instagram of himself alongside snowplows and navigating icy terrain in a Jeep.
His accident serves as a stark reminder of the dangers involved in winter activities, even for experienced individuals.
Although Renner’s injuries were severe, he remains optimistic about his recovery.
