In an interview, Hugh Grant, known for his private nature, spoke openly about his experiences working with his leading ladies on screen.
While he usually keeps quiet about his personal life, Grant had no problem sharing his thoughts on two of his co-stars, Julia Roberts and Renee Zellweger.
Grant reminisced about his time filming “Notting Hill” in 1999 with Julia Roberts.
He revealed that kissing Roberts was quite an experience, describing it as “a big mouth” and even mentioning a faint echo he heard while kissing her.
In the film, Grant played William Thacker, a bookshop owner who falls in love with Hollywood superstar Anna Scott, played by Roberts.
Moving on to Renee Zellweger, Grant praised her kissing skills and referred to her as a “top snogger.”
Grant shared that he engaged in “competitive snogging” with his on-screen love rival, Colin Firth, in the Bridget Jones's Diary films.
Grant jokingly mentioned that Zellweger would be the one to reveal who she preferred between him and Firth, adding that he believed Firth tried too hard.
Grant's comments may seem reminiscent of his character Daniel Cleaver from Bridget Jones's Diary, portraying a caddish attitude.
However, he clarified that he has fancied all his leading ladies, as it wouldn't be fun otherwise.
Grant emphasized that chemistry is essential in filmmaking and that he is selective when choosing his co-stars.
He mentioned that he got along well with Sandra Bullock and Sarah Jessica Parker.
During his appearance on Alan Carr's Chatty Man show, Grant also discussed his decision to withdraw from the third Bridget Jones film.
Grant shared that he felt the script didn't live up to the previous films and didn't want to disappoint fans.
Although he regrets not being a part of the film, he still holds the Bridget Jones franchise in high regard.
Grant's candid remarks about his on-screen leading ladies provide a glimpse into his experiences and preferences when it comes to acting.
While he remains tight-lipped about his personal life, Grant is more than willing to share his thoughts on the women he has worked with in the entertainment industry.
