Former child star Mackenzie Phillips has recently made shocking revelations in her new memoir, where she discloses engaging in an incestuous relationship with her father, John Phillips, the founder of the musical group Mamas and the Papas.
In her tell-all book, set to be released this week, Phillips reveals that the relationship began on the night before her wedding to Jeff Sessler, who was associated with the Rolling Stones.
According to People magazine, Phillips writes in her memoir, “On the eve of my wedding, my father showed up, determined to stop it.”
She goes on to describe how she awoke from a blackout that night to find herself having s** with her own father.
She admits that she was unsure if this had occurred before, but it was the first time she was fully aware of the situation.
Phillips states, “For a moment I was in my body, in that horrible truth, and then I slid back into a blackout.”
Following this incident, Phillips began touring with her father in a band called the New Mamas and the Papas, and during this time, the s**ual relationship between them became consensual.
In her memoir, Phillips also discloses that her father suggested they move to a country where their incestuous relationship would be accepted or even welcomed.
She quotes her father as saying, “We could just run away to a country where no one would look down on us.
There are countries where this is an accepted practice.
Maybe Fiji.”
Phillips, who was fired from the TV sitcom “One Day at a Time” in 1980 due to her ongoing drug use, admits that she felt from the beginning that the incestuous relationship was wrong.
She writes, “I thought, we’re going to hell for this.”
In addition to this revelation, Phillips also stated that her father introduced her to cocaine, recalling how he injected her for the first time.
She describes the experience of the missed vein and her entire arm going numb.
Having pleaded guilty to felony cocaine possession in 2008, Phillips entered a year and a half-long drug rehab program.
She attributes her drug habit to associating with groupies and fellow musicians connected to her father’s band.
Her half-sister, Chynna Phillips, confirms that Mackenzie informed her of the incestuous affair in 1997 and believes it to be true.
Chynna also reveals that their father used drugs with Mackenzie.
In an Oprah promo, Phillips discloses that Rolling Stones singer Mick Jagger once attempted to sleep with her.
She recounts Jagger locking the door and saying, “I’ve been waiting for this since you were 10 years old.”
These shocking revelations are detailed in Phillips’ new memoir, titled “High on Arrival,” which will be available this week.
The interview with Oprah is scheduled to air on Wednesday afternoon.
