In a surprising revelation, it has been reported that Jackie Chan's son, Jaycee Chan, will not receive any part of his father's estimated $400 million fortune upon his death.
The famous actor and martial artist, who is known for his tumultuous relationship with his two children, Jaycee and Etta Ng Chok Lam, has made it clear that he expects his children to create their own success in life, without relying on his wealth.
He emphasized that Jaycee would not have access to his Hollywood-made money.
This sentiment was further highlighted in Chan's autobiography, “Never Grow Up,” where he recounted a lesson he taught his son during a flight.
Chan had purchased a first-class ticket for himself and an economy seat for Jaycee.
He wanted to show his son that success comes from hard work and that he must fight his own battles.
However, Jaycee was eventually upgraded to first class, which Chan considered a missed opportunity to reinforce the lesson.
Chan also revealed that he would prefer to donate his fortune to charity rather than let his son waste it if he is unable to make his own money.
Jaycee, who has struggled to match his father's success as both an actor and musician, gained attention in 2014 when he was arrested in China for marijuana possession.
He was later found guilty and served six months in jail.
Throughout this challenging time, Chan made it clear that his son needed to take responsibility for his actions and the consequences they brought.
It is evident that Jackie Chan has chosen not to rely on his wealth to secure his children's futures.
Instead, he wants them to learn the value of hard work and self-sufficiency, just like he did.
