Larry King’s Widow Shawn Plans to Challenge Exclusion from Husband’s Will in Court

's widow, Shawn Southwick King, has been left shocked and blindsided after discovering that she was omitted from a handwritten amendment to her late husband's will.

The amendment, which was made on October 17, 2019, guaranteed an equal distribution of King's $2 million estate among his five children in the event of his death.

However, Shawn claims that the amendment was drawn up under external pressure, and she intends to contest it in court.

passed away at the age of 87 in Los Angeles on January 23, 2021, due to sepsis caused by COVID-19.

His seventh wife, Shawn, believes that the amendment was written two months after he filed for divorce from her.

According to her, they had previously created a “watertight family estate plan” together in 2015, which she considers the legitimate will.

She expressed confidence that her attorneys would respond to the situation and file a response promptly.

In an interview with Page Six, Shawn revealed that despite their reported separation, she and Larry remained close and spoke to each other daily.

She even recounted their final conversation via video call from the hospital, where Larry expressed his love for her and asked her to take care of their sons.

Shawn further disclosed that their sons, Chance and Cannon, were also taken aback by her exclusion from the inheritance and expressed their dissatisfaction with the situation.

When asked about the alleged pressure Larry faced when making the amendment, Shawn responded affirmatively but did not provide further details.

The legal complexities surrounding Larry King's inheritance were already apparent prior to Shawn's decision to take legal action.

In the amendment, Larry stated that it should replace all previous writings and declared his desire for an equal division of his wealth among his children: Andy, Chaia, Larry Jr, Chance, and Cannon.

Tragically, both Andy and Chaia passed away within a month of each other in 2020.

Adding to the complexity, Larry and Shawn's divorce was still pending and unresolved at the time of his death.

Despite filing for divorce in August 2019, the couple had been married for 22 years, making it Larry's longest-lasting marriage out of eight.

Reports suggest that if Shawn is successful in her claim, she may receive a share of approximately $300,000 from the $2 million estate.

While not a substantial amount, Shawn emphasizes that it is a matter of principle for her.

When questioned about why Larry may have made the amendment, Shawn admitted her confusion, stating, “It beats me!”

During their divorce proceedings, Larry cited their significant age difference and religious disparities as contributing factors to the marital strain.

He revealed that Shawn's strong Mormon faith clashed with his agnostic atheism.

Furthermore, Larry's near-fatal stroke in May 2019 prompted him to prioritize his happiness and reassess his priorities.
