Demi Moore, in her raw and revealing autobiography “Inside Out,” has disclosed that she cheated on her first husband, Freddy Moore, the night before their wedding.
The actress, at the age of 17, realized that she was marrying Freddy as a means to distract herself from the tragic suicide of her father, Danny.
In an exclusive excerpt published by People, Demi shared her inner turmoil, stating, “Instead of working on my vows the night before we got married, I found myself calling a guy I had met on a movie set.”
She further admitted to sneaking out of her own bachelorette party to visit his apartment.
She questioned why she didn't confide in Freddy, the man she was about to spend her life with, to express her doubts.
The underlying reason for her actions, Demi explained, was her inability to face the reality that she was getting married as a way to cope with her father's death.
She felt trapped in a marriage she couldn't escape but could sabotage.
At the time of their wedding, Demi and Freddy had only been dating for a few months.
They crossed paths in a nightclub in 1979 while Freddy was still married to Lucy, his wife at the time.
Demi, however, did not feel any guilt about contributing to the end of their marriage.
She admitted to being a self-absorbed teenager who hadn't been raised with much respect for the institution of marriage.
Despite her infidelity, Demi's marriage to Freddy endured for five years before she eventually filed for divorce, which was finalized in 1985.
Shortly after her divorce from Freddy, Demi encountered Bruce Willis at a premiere in 1987.
Bruce immediately swept her off her feet, showering her with attention and extravagant trips on private jets.
However, their honeymoon phase didn't last.
Reflecting on their union, the 56-year-old actress admitted, “We had a whirlwind, truncated infatuation that morphed into a full-on family, all in our very first year.
When reality set in, I don't know if we really knew each other.”
Despite their differences, Demi and Bruce had three daughters together before divorcing in 2000.
Demi's love life took another turn when she married actor Ashton Kutcher in 2005.
However, their relationship was plagued with issues, leading to their divorce in 2013.
In her autobiography, Demi Moore bares her soul, revealing the personal struggles, successes, and failures that have shaped her life.
Her candidness offers readers a glimpse into the complexities of her journey, shedding light on the choices she made and the lessons she learned along the way.
