Lizzo’s Team Faces Lawsuit Alleging Bullying and Discrimination

In a shocking turn of events, Lizzo, the popular entertainer known for promoting inclusivity and social justice, has been hit with yet another lawsuit.

A former employee, fashion designer Asha Daniels, has come forward with claims of bullying, harassment, and racial discrimination within Lizzo's team.

Daniels, 35, spoke out about her experiences to NBC News just before filing the lawsuit against Lizzo and other members of the singer's team.

She described feeling like she was living in a madhouse, completely taken aback by what she witnessed behind the scenes.

While Lizzo was delivering powerful messages of self-love and empathy on stage, Daniels alleges that the dancers, background vocalists, and local team in every city were regularly subjected to harassment and bullying.

The lawsuit, filed by Daniels' lawyers in Los Angeles County Superior Court, specifically mentions wardrobe manager Amanda Nomura.

According to the suit, Nomura would perform stereotypical impressions of Black women, using derogatory terms like “fat,” “useless,” and “dumb” to refer to the performers.

Additionally, Nomura allegedly forced them to change in front of a predominantly white, male stage crew who would lewdly stare at them.

Daniels claims that she was fired after she raised concerns about Nomura's behavior, holding Lizzo accountable as the boss.

Responding to the lawsuit, Ron Zambrano, Daniels' lawyer, stated that Lizzo is ultimately responsible for the actions of her team.

He accused Lizzo's spokesperson, Stefan Friedman, of trying to undermine the importance of the lawsuit and tarnish an honor that Lizzo was set to receive—the Humanitarian Award from the Black Music Action Coalition for her philanthropic work and dedication to social justice.

The coalition, which previously praised Lizzo for her advocacy and commitment to diversity, has not yet commented on the lawsuit.

It is crucial to address and rectify any allegations of bullying, harassment, and discrimination, regardless of the individual involved.

Lizzo and her team must take these claims seriously and ensure a safe and inclusive work environment for all members.

The truth behind these allegations will undoubtedly unfold as the legal process progresses.
