In a recent interview with The Sunday Times, Seth Rogen opened up about his professional relationship with James Franco and stated that he has no intentions of working with him in the future.
This decision comes in the wake of allegations of s**ually inappropriate behavior against Franco.
During the interview, Rogen addressed the allegations and reflected on his 2014 “Saturday Night Live” opening monologue.
In the monologue, Rogen joked about a 17-year-old girl's claim that Franco had messaged her on Instagram to meet up.
Rogen revealed that it was a prank, saying, “I posed as a girl on Instagram, told him I was way young.
He seemed unfazed.
I have a date to meet him at the Ace Hotel.”
Rogen expressed his stance on abuse and harassment, stating, “I despise abuse and harassment, and I would never cover up or conceal the actions of someone engaging in such behavior.
I would also never knowingly put someone in a situation where they were around someone like that.”
He also expressed regret for making the joke during his “Saturday Night Live” appearance, acknowledging that it was a terrible joke.
Franco faced allegations of s**ual misconduct once again in 2018 when former students from his acting school accused him of pressuring them into s**ual situations.
Franco has denied these allegations, and the case was ultimately settled in February.
Despite previous statements indicating his willingness to continue working with Franco, Rogen now states that he has changed his mind.
Reflecting on his past interview in 2018, Rogen admitted, “I said I would keep working with James, but the truth is that I have not and do not plan to right now.”
He confirmed that the end of their professional relationship is not a coincidence and acknowledged that the allegations have also affected their personal friendship.
When asked about the impact on their friendship, Rogen struggled to define it during the interview.
He mentioned that it has changed many things in their relationship and dynamic.
In response to the interviewer's comment that the situation must have been painful for him, Rogen expressed that while it has been challenging, he recognizes the greater pain experienced by others involved and does not seek pity for himself.
As of now, representatives for Rogen and Franco have not responded to requests for comments from NBC News.
