Seth Rogen, in an interview with the Sunday Times, has revealed that he currently has no intentions of working with his former collaborator James Franco.
The decision comes in light of the s**ual misconduct allegations made against Franco in 2014 and 2018, which have affected their personal and professional relationship.
Rogen, aged 39, expressed his strong stance against abuse and harassment, stating that he would never support or hide the actions of someone involved in such behavior.
He also emphasized that he would not knowingly put anyone in a situation where they would be exposed to such conduct.
This response was prompted by actress Charlyne Yi's claim that Rogen acted as Franco's “enabler.”
Furthermore, Rogen expressed regret over a joke he made during his opening monologue on “Saturday Night Live” in 2014.
The joke downplayed the seriousness of Franco's propositioning of a 17-year-old on Instagram.
Rogen admitted that the joke was in poor taste and stated, “I very much regret making that joke.”
He also acknowledged that in a 2018 interview, he had mentioned his willingness to continue working with Franco, but he clarified that he has not done so and has no plans to at the moment.
Franco, known for his roles in films such as “The Interview,” “Sausage Party,” “The Disaster Artist,” and “Pineapple Express,” has faced additional accusations of s**ual misconduct since the Instagram incident in 2014.
In 2018, five women publicly accused him of inappropriate or exploitative behavior.
Franco has addressed these allegations on various talk shows, including “The Late Show with Stephen Colbert” and “Late Night with Seth Meyers.”
He stated that he believes in giving a voice to those who have been underrepresented and is willing to withhold certain information because of his support for their stories.
When asked about the impact of the scandal on his relationship with Franco, Rogen admitted that many things have changed in their dynamic.
However, he acknowledged that his own situation is not as painful and challenging as it is for others involved.
He expressed empathy towards those affected and stated that he does not pity himself in this situation.
CNN has reached out to Franco's representatives for comment regarding Rogen's remarks.
