A recently surfaced FBI report has brought to light a tumultuous incident involving Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt on their private plane in 2016.
The report, which is heavily censored and was obtained by EW, discloses that Jolie, referred to by her full name and as “AJ,” accused her then-husband Pitt (name redacted) of physical assault during a flight back to California following a two-week trip.
Allegedly, Pitt took Jolie to the rear of the aircraft, where he forcefully grabbed her head and shoulders, shook her, and shouted, “You're disrupting this family.”
Furthermore, Pitt purportedly struck the plane's ceiling four times.
According to the report, when Jolie opened the door, two of their children, whose identities are also concealed, were found outside crying and asking, “Mommy, are you okay?”
Suspecting Pitt was intoxicated, Jolie claimed that he yelled, “No, mommy isn't fine.
She's tearing this family apart.”
Additionally, he reportedly poured beer on Jolie while she was under a blanket with the children.
The 2016 episode has resurfaced due to a recent report by Puck, alleging that Jolie is the unnamed Jane Doe who filed a Freedom of Information Act lawsuit against the FBI earlier this year, seeking clarity on why the investigation into Pitt was dropped.
This news follows Politico's initial mention in April of a lawsuit filed by an anonymous individual accusing her then-spouse of physical and verbal abuse towards her and their children on a private plane several years back, aligning closely with Jolie's accusations during their divorce filing in 2016.
In that same year, the FBI confirmed they were investigating an incident involving Jolie and Pitt on a private plane, similar to the aforementioned blurb.
As per the FBI report disclosed by EW, discussions within the United States Attorney's Office concluded that criminal charges would not be pursued due to multiple factors.
A source close to Pitt claims this information is not groundbreaking, as both parties were privy to the FBI report six years ago.
The source questions the motive behind an anonymous FOIA request for known information, branding it a publicity stunt likely intended to cause distress.
Representatives for Jolie have yet to respond to inquiries from EW regarding the matter.
According to the FBI report, the Department of Children and Family Services Bureau of Child Protection received a report detailing an assault on a minor during the flight.
Though specifics are heavily censored, tension between Pitt and the children is mentioned, with Pitt allegedly making a disturbing remark about one of the kids.
In 2016, a source familiar with the incident told PEOPLE that a parent-child argument had escalated beyond acceptable levels but fell short of physical abuse.
They clarified that although Pitt intervened physically, he did not strike his child in the face.
Later that year, Pitt was cleared of allegations of verbal and physical abuse towards one of their children related to the plane incident after investigations by the Los Angeles County Department of Children and Family Services and the LAPD.
Following a decade of dating and two years of marriage, Jolie filed for divorce from Pitt in 2016, triggering a contentious custody battle over their six children—Shiloh, Vivienne, Zahara, Maddox, Knox, and Pax—that remains unresolved.
