In a memoir set for release titled “Little Sister” on Tuesday, Lana Wood, the sister of Natalie Wood, discloses that Kirk Douglas s**ually assaulted Natalie as a teenager in 1955.
This information comes from a report by the Associated Press.
The incident reportedly occurred after Lana and their mother, Maria Zakharenko, dropped Natalie off at the Chateau Marmont in Los Angeles to meet with Douglas.
Kirk Douglas passed away in February 2020 at the remarkable age of 103.
Despite Variety's attempt to reach out for comment, Michael Douglas, his son, did not respond.
However, Michael Douglas' publicist, when contacted by the AP, expressed, “May they both rest in peace.”
As of now, Variety has not managed to secure a copy of “Little Sister.”
Quoting from the memoir, the AP reveals that Natalie confided in Lana, saying, “And, uh … he hurt me, Lana.”
In “Little Sister,” Lana recounts the incident as “like an out-of-body experience.
I was terrified, I was confused.”
According to the book, their mother advised Natalie to “Suck it up.”
The alleged s**ual assault has circulated as a rumor for years.
In fact, when Douglas passed away in 2020, Natalie Wood's name trended on Twitter alongside his, as noted by the AP.
Suzanne Finstad's biography of Wood, “Natalie Wood: The Complete Biography,” reissued in March 2020, also alludes to Wood being raped, without explicitly naming the perpetrator.
Finstad describes the rapist as one of Wood's “childhood idols, a powerful, married movie star more than twenty years older than she.”
Finstad's account proceeds to outline the alleged rape as extremely violent — “so violent she bled” — and “verbally abusive.”
The ordeal concluded with the movie star menacing her: “If you tell anyone, it'll be the last thing you do.”
The 2020 HBO documentary “Natalie Wood: What Remains Behind,” overseen by Natasha Gregson Wagner, the eldest daughter of Natalie Wood, criticized Lana Wood.
Friends and family of Natalie maintained that Lana exploited her sister's demise with sensational claims regarding the boating accident that claimed her life.
In “Little Sister,” Lana, aged 75, shares that she vowed to Natalie not to disclose the rape but now believes circumstances have altered.
“With no one still around to protect, I'm sure she'll forgive me for finally breaking that promise,” Wood reflects.
